Tropical Storm Moke bears down on a soaked Big Island

Tropical Storm Moke was centered about 470 miles southeast of Hilo on Saturday morning with maximum sustained winds near 50 mph, moving west-northwest at 12 mph. The National Hurricane Center expected the center to pass south of the Big Island Saturday night into Sunday, with 5 to 10 inches of rain and isolated totals to 15 inches on windward and southeast slopes already soaked by Hurricane Lala, which dropped as much as 43.54 inches. About 9,000 Big Island customers were still without power. No tropical storm watches were posted for the main islands. Hawaii Gov. Josh Green urged residents to restock supplies.
