Two killed as gunfire hits unlicensed Trenton block party
Trenton, New JerseyPublished 31 Aug 2026
Outlets disagree on wounded counts, crowd size, and the time of the Locust Street call, while neighbors and the police director clash over whether officers should have shut the unauthorized gathering before multiple suspects fired into it.
Two people were killed and others wounded when gunfire tore through an unauthorized gathering on the 100 block of Locust Street in Trenton’s Wilbur section early Sunday, Aug. 30, 2026. The Mercer County prosecutor said multiple suspects fired into a crowd; more than 50 shell casings were recovered and no arrests had been announced. Outlets disagree on whether eight or nine people were wounded, whether about 100, 150 or 200 people were there, whether the call was about 12:23, 12:25 or 12:33 a.m., and whether the dead man was 42 or 44. Neighbors told NBC10 and CBS that police cars passed the party; Police Director Steve Wilson said officers had been on the block and were outnumbered.
