Erin Piacenti, a 32-year-old Bank of America vice president from Chester, New Jersey, was fatally stabbed in Times Square on Monday afternoon, Aug. 31, 2026, on what ABC said was her first day back from maternity leave. Pamela Cisneros, 49, of Queens, stabbed a 68-year-old Rhode Island man and then Piacenti about 20 seconds apart, police said, before officers shot her dead near an NYPD substation after Tasers failed. Commissioner Jessica Tisch called the attacks random and unprovoked and said Cisneros had a documented mental-health history but no arrest record.
