Supreme Court lets Trump mail-voting order proceed for now
A 6-3 emergency stay lifts a Massachusetts injunction on Trump’s March order giving DHS and USPS new roles in mail ballots before the midterms. The court did not decide the merits, and a separate USPS injunction still stands.
The Supreme Court on Monday, 6-3, stayed a June injunction that had blocked President Trump’s March executive order on mail ballots in 23 Democratic-led states and Washington, D.C. The unsigned order said the states sued too soon and that the court was not deciding whether implementing the order is lawful. A separate nationwide injunction on U.S. Postal Service rules remains. Democratic attorneys general called it a setback; the liberal justices dissented.
