The IDF says a Saturday strike hit a Hamas commander hiding in the Deir al-Balah hospital compound. The hospital describes a medical-supply warehouse hit, with civilians wounded and no confirmation the commander was killed.
Israel said Saturday it struck a Hamas commander hiding in the Shuhada al-Aqsa / Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital compound in Deir al-Balah. The Times of Israel reported the military said the commander was killed; AFP via The Straits Times said the army could not immediately confirm a kill. Hospital officials said the strike hit a warehouse or tent used for medical supplies near the maternity ward, with three or four people wounded. The IDF said it had warned medical authorities on Aug. 27 not to use hospitals for militant activity. MSF said it was appalled. Separate Saturday strikes killed people in eastern Deir al-Balah, Tel al-Hawa, and Khan Younis.
