FBI agents seized former Rep. Eric Swalwell’s iPhone and MacBook Pro at San Francisco International Airport at 8:25 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 15, and searched his Washington, D.C., home on Aug. 16 as part of a federal sexual-misconduct investigation. A Northern District of California warrant filed Aug. 13 cites 18 U.S.C. § 242, the civil-rights statute covering officials acting under color of law. Swalwell was not arrested. He resigned in April and dropped a gubernatorial bid after accusations from multiple women, including a former staffer. House Ethics had opened an inquiry.
